What Is Tapping?

Emotions are not logical. They pop up when we least expect them.

Any time of day and any moment in life and it is easy to ignore and shut them down for convenience.

However, if our feelings are not worked through as it happens, those feelings will linger. All the moments of your childhood define your adulthood. Even if our minds don’t remember, our bodies do.

Tapping with children, as their emotions are happening, sets them up for navigating their future emotional wellness. It can also aid them in healthy interactions with others.

When we tap each meridian point and talk through how it feels during these moments, it helps to regulate the Sympathetic Nervous System-the fight or flight response center.

The process: tapping and speaking thoughts aloud, they can be good or “bad”, just say it all. What are you feeling right now? Did this remind you of something from your past? What do you want to do right now, at this very moment? Scream? Cry? Punch a pillow?

Find a space where you can tap and feel.

Just remember,

We do not hurt living things – humans, animals, or ourselves.

Find these meridian points on your body.

Start at the top of your head and work your way down to the underarms.

Say how you feel.

You just might feel better when you are done.

Happy tapping!
